HELP: Just got a PC w/out a hard drive..

    Well, just got hold ofa tower that came bundled with Vista basic.. my two questions are;

    how do I find out what hard drive is compatible with my tower setup

    how would I get the Vista installed on the system, because I'm guessing that the Vista that came with the tower was pre installed on the HD.. (I have no backup disc or restore disc..)

    Original Poster

    IDE: ATA133 x 2
    Serial ATA(SATA)/RAID: Serial ATA x 2 with RAID 0, 1, JBOD

    Found that info if it helps, motherboard is a Foxconn N15235

    sounds like it has both ATA ans SATA so any 3.5 inch disk will do
    but as DCX says SATA is the way to go

    as for the OS, if you dont have the disk then you will probably have to buy a copy

    if there is a COA on the machine you could download it from somewhere and use that to install it

    Get a SATA drive which are between £25 upwards, should be able to get a 1Tb drive for about £60 on ebuyer.
    Also have you got the Vista Disc? if not you need to find out what version of vista you have the code for, it will tell you on the sticker on the tower if your lucky, and then get hold of a copy of the same version on disc
