My mother in law is looking for a laptop, her budget is around £400. She wants it for browsing the web and submitting the VAT return.
I know nothing about computers so would really appreciate any help you lovely people can offer me.
Thanks in advance. Rep will be given

Not got much clue personally as there's so many around - but if its just a standard machine you want I've just bought a zoostorm laptop from Additions on buy now pay next year for just over £300 using one of the discount codes from on here and quidco. The laptop is dual core but not got rest of specs to hand at mo - but I'm sure it has a pretty big hard drive and memory from what I can remember - price was £379 but used 10% code and then 9% cashback from quidco (which tracked straightaway) - and I dont have to pay a penny till April 2011 - basically I'm going to pay monthly from now to then so I dont get hit with interest charges next April just in case I havent the full amount then ! Hope this is some help - sorry it's not much detail but I do know zoostorm have a good name :-) !

Edit - it's 2gb ram and 250gb hdd if that helps !

When buying a laptop the main thing is the brand and the aftersales. So go for a known brand . In that price range you are looking at - Dell/Acer/Asus/hp

I personally prefer apple or dell

As its for your mom the screen size may be importatn.. the dell 1545 is a nice 15" range laptop.

If not a dell/samsung netbook would be fine for web
