Found 6th Jul 2009
ok i have a vauxhall vectra sri 130 dti ,year 2001.
two days ago it started to 'kangaroo' when taking the revs up to 2000 in every gear.
it feels as though the car has no 'go' in it now and is constantly pulling back(kangarooing) when trying to accelerate.
Its not overheating though.... does anyone out there have any ideas as to what is wrong, pretty please xxx

woman driver?
Change the diesel fuel filter,
it's probably blocked up.
Is the engine management light on?
Could be water in the fuel mix. Have read that before
Something similar happened to me though just days before car warranty was about to expire. Garage dealt with it all for me. Was told it would have been mega expensive to deal with if not under warranty. Hope not for your sake

careful... they let them on the roads these days...

LOL!
Probably needs a new airflow meter, is a common problem.

a orange light has come on recently in the shape of a sort of square think it is the engine management light

Put it into a garage and plug it into their diagnostic machine.

Could be several fault codes?

I'd change the fuel filter to start with though.

It could indeed be a Mass Airflow Filter or MAF Sensor, but these are expensive and I wouldn't buy one just to test it out, as it may not be the problem.
Blonde ...........

Enough said
How you doing? xx

Best off with a garage, but try a Vauxhall forum like the www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk as these guys are more in the know!!

oh i hope not, im just really hoping it isnt head gaskit on its way out:x

that could be the cause of it then. it could be a faulty filter, they could have damaged something fitting it or contaminated the fuel whilst doing it! Was it done at a garage?

Why was the filter changed 5 weeks ago, was it running fine prior to this?
Will possibly have to take it to a main dealer unless you know someone who can check out info from there. If its something to do with the electronic set up usually the main dealers have a monopoly on the info of how to deal with faults

Is the orange light on or flashing? If its on, it means its a bit broke. If its flashing, you should stop driving it immediately and tow to a garage, as you could damage it further.

If you can find the fault codes, vauxhall forum members will identify them for you on websites, like the one previously mentioned.

Main dealer should be your' last resort.

Most garages should be able to obtain fault codes from an eight year old vauxhall.

Good Luck.

Remove your' oil cap, look at the bottom of it, if it's creamy, then yes.
Did you put in the wrong petrol?

There are other reasons for the creamy goo, but yes thats a good pointer I admit.

As for why the engine management light goes out when you pull away.... no ideas. Does it kangaroo with the light off then?

checked the oil cap too it was fine. when the light goes off, as i drive off my driveway it still kangaroos, yes, no other light comes on!

no cream he checked that yesterday too, there was a bit of pressure in the water tank though!:?
Cylinder head gaskets seperate water and oil, if it is blown, they will mix together, hence the cream in the oil, and oil in your' water also.

Let us know how it works out, as this is interesting for others who may develop the same problem.

I fixed a similar problem by fitting a new Fram diesel filter recently.

You may also have filled up with contaminated (dirty) diesel in the last 5 weeks and may need a new filter. It's possible.

you mean to tell me you dont know what the handbrake light is, god, and i thought i was 'blonde'!!!!
this happened in my Laguna hadnt even had chance to get it to a garage then the turbo went

thats what i get for buying a renault tho
Only vaguely remember a lot of cars breaking down when the supermarket petrol stations were delivered a lot of dodgy fuel.
It could be a possibility that you have been unlucky in where you have filled up?
did you notice any sleeping policemen
