I've just removed my son's phone from the washing machine after a 90 minute cycle - help!

doh!!! I think it has probably had it.

Stick it in the airing cupboard for a couple of days. It may come back to life. I have done it before and it worked!

try the old trick of leaving it on top of a radiator for a few hours, make sure you remove the sim card asap, it should still be working...

Put it back where you found it, and deny everything. That's what I would do LOL !!!!!!!:whistling:

Don't try and turn it on, as this could short it out if there is any moisture in it.

A while back on the Gadget show, they tested out putting mobiles in water and stuff... all came back to life when left in a dry place for about 48 hours.

Take it apart, and lay out all the components (battery, keypad, sim, etc) in a dry place, like an airing cupboard.

Do not touch it, do not press any buttons whatsoever, do not even turn it off if it still has power!!!!

Just leave it to dry, if you presss any buttons you are taking a chance of shorting it out, with a little luck (or a lot) you could have a working phone in 48 hours or so.

WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT (repeat NOT!!!) TURN IT ON !!!
I know it's tempting to switch it on to see if it works, or not - BUT RESIST THAT TEMPTATION !!!
If you do switch it on, you will DEFINITELY short circuit it, and then you will have the certainty that it is broken.

Remove the battery and sim card,
Presumably it has had a rinse cycle and is not soapy (If it is soapy you will have to swill it in clean water to remove the soap and chance it)
Remove what water you can with an absorbant tissue.
Then leave in an airing cupboard for a minimum of 4 days.
After that time inspect it by looking at the display - is water or moisture still trapped there? If so, back into the airing cupboard until the display has cleared of moisture.

Only when the display is clear do you reinsert the battery, switch on. if it turns on, then reinsert the SIM and test.

You are all super-duper stars, thanks very much I dismantled it as soon as I got it out of the machine, and yes it was rinsed so it's just water (+ fabric softener) that's sloshing around its insides.

I'm off to watch the gadget show thingy on Youtube now tyvm xx

By the way, I'm not accepting responsibility for this, bloody kids need to learn that I am way too busy to be checking the pockets off all their clothes before I wash, dry and iron them, now what's the chance of stroppy teenage boy agreeing?

Just round and round in circles in the kitchen lol, nowhere exciting.

Put in bag full of rice. It draws out the moisture, Read this somewhere in a magazine & it really works!

Unfortunately even if it does come back to life there is a very good chance the microphone or speaker will be damaged - they are particular susceptible to water damage. Hope this isn't the case

Do remember to post back here - we are all going to be wondering what the outcome is:)

Way better than Eastenders/Coronation St etc
