Help, need some advice regarding ee shared plans

My partner took out a £35 phone contract 2 years ago, she took out contracts for the 2 kids at £13, around 1 year ago.

Her phone broke around 6 months ago, so she took out a new £35 phone on the shared plan.

Her understanding, was when 1st phone was up, that would be cancelled, with one of the other 3, becoming plan leader.

However 3 separate Ee workers are telling her the prices of all the plans will go up to basically the same price as paying for the 4 phones.

    Surely they cant do this?

Should also add, all phones share her 1 plan, 5gb data, 600minutes

My understanding is that you choose a 'leader' account as SIM to share your allowance. If you cancel your contract then the sharer SIMs will not have any allowance until moved onto a standard tariff. Your contract will never just 'end' after the minimum term though - it will continue rolling until you give your 30 days' notice. If the account holder fails to give notice of cancellation then they are responsible for any subsequent monthly charges. Sharer SIM 'leaders' are also entirely responsible for any charges brought about from the other shared numbers - such as ringing numbers outside of their allowance or sending picture messages.

Couldn't have put better myself lol apart from adding you don't just get a new phone & new plan because your old phone broke you just buy a new phone and continue on using the same sim

I sense this will be a watchdog scandal a few years down the line. They encourage people to take out additional phones to tie them to continually renew or pay hiked prices when they want to leave

I should add, my partner is female, common sense is not so common.

Hi there, why doesn't your wife change her own price plan and nominate the number to be the new leader of the shared plan then the others don't have to change and can stay as they are and she can cancel her exsisting one.

Not sure where the scandal is. It's a really good way for family members to save money on mobile phone contracts - where often they'd take out an entirely new contract for their child (for example). Not having a go but with any contract it's the account holder's responsibility to check the terms and conditions and clarify anything they're not sure about. No point waiting till something happens and then complaining. I've been using sharer SIMs for ages and have never had a problem because I researched beforehand.
