    Help Needed - Bought a Sony Ericsson K550i about 10 months ago through this site........

    Several of the buttons stopped working about 8 months ago and takes a lifetime to respond to them buttons being pressed....so much so that I have to press the answer button 30-40 times in succession to answer a call and usually I don't make it in time ;io(

    I bought it from the catalogues that gave a £20 off discount I think? (littlewoods? - but need to go through my receipts box to make sure).

    Are these things covered by a 12 month warranty with the manufacturer or the place I bought from?

    If so, does anyone know the number for orange that I contact ..... I have let this go on for too long now and the warranty should soon be up so would really appreciate help. Will happily give rep..

    sony erricson carry a 2 yr warranty i believe, your 1st 12 months is through the shop where purchased, next 12 is with sony

    dont waste time contacting orange or the catalogue. SE will carry out warranty for the 2 years with much less hassle, you phone em, book a repair and they email you with a freepost address. Its usually a quick turn around but prob longer this time of year.

    Ahhh I thought I would have to go to Orange, but couldn't find any details online.

    Is this also the case for a brand new 500gb hard drive that is making grinding noises....would I contact Ebuyer or Western Digital?

    generally you should ALWAYS contact the retailer first for warranty problems. Its just that Sony Ericsson provide such excellent service and are more efficient its better with their phones to contact them direct, They may be other companies like this but i know no other personally.

    BTW Sony wont repair it if its been unlocked or flashed with walkman firmware etc.

    yes they will lol. i have had a repair done on a w610i that i had debranded, unlocked and installed custom apps to.

    It actually broke after about 2 months but I have put up with it...... I know what you mean though!

    No blag needed. the phone is covered for 2 years.

    Much Appreciated everybody.....

    When you call the number is there a lot of hassle and paperwork or do they just tell you to send the phone in? I just want to know so that I can call them at the right time, if it's going to be a long call I will ring after work but it its a short call I can do it during lunch.
