Wondering if you folks can help, we are having a new Tesco built in town which i dont have an issue with and i think it will be good for the Town.

However they are cutting down 47 trees in the park to build this road, there is a bowls club that runs along side the park and they have told the council they can have the land to build the road, this will save the trees and the park from being ruined, yet the council havent even looked at that and passed the route through the park

If you could sign i would be grateful, and if you have been to Sleaford down Boston Road you may have noticed how beautiful the trees in the park are.

Here is a pic of the park, ive marked the area in red, as you can see there is an open space for the road, yet the are cutting down the trees in the right of the box !

just read article - dont they make you laugh saying creates 220 jobs -

tescos getting £2000 from government for each 8hr contract - :x

and from your photo you can clearly see the proposed road will take away what looks like ideal play park - lots of houses surrounding it

tesco have tried 3 times in my area to expand - 3 times lost - they now have to go to central government - costs them money in long run

initially it has killed our little town - re smaller shops

    hope you win -

    Done.

Singed, Tesco are getting far to big...

    Thanks folks, really appreciate it.

Makes you mad when they want to chop down really old trees and ruin the park when there is an alternative rignt next to the proposed road !

Hopefully it will make the council think if numbers get high

    Done!

Have you got a copy of the plans? usually new builds are required to replant any trees that they destroy. If not get on to your MP and kick up a stink about the trees. You're happy for the build to go ahead on condition that they replant more than the trees they take down.

The plans i havent got they were printed in the paper i think, the point is they are chopping trees down when there is an alternative right next door (see pic), i know you can replant trees and this is part of the plan but these original trees have been up 200+ years why chop them down and replant when they can use the alternative route ?

The council have just rushed it through without any thought, i want the trees preserving for my kids and grandkids and so do people i have spoken to

    A bit more info here> sleafordstandard.co.uk/new….jp

If there was no alternative then i wouldnt have a problem, but there is right next to the route that got approved, the councellors didnt even look at that route , they just dismissed it, and to make matters worse councellors that live in town were not allowed to vote

    done

Tesco have bought up three plots of land near me just because other supermarkets were interested in building on them. I know it is a different reason, but show that Tesco needs pulling down a few pegs.

Good petition and all too willing to sign.

We had a Asda bus here a couple of years ago asking if people would be intrested, low and behold a few weeks later Tesco bought the land !

Are they building it from scratch or taking over an existing building?
Is there residential houses close to the application?
If they want to remove trees , find out what trees, alot are protected now.
What are the access roads like?
All these are taken into consideration when any application is submitted.
Another suggestion is to contact your senior planning officer of your local government. Ask if they plan to approve or refuse the application. If they say approve, ask them for a break down of why...

I cannot see them getting permission. It has to be voted on by the planning comittee and i am sure they will not pass this. The preservation order on the trees would should be a refusal in itself.

God knows why but it has passed planning permisson , maybe there is a 2nd stage to pass i dont know.

sorry and although i sympathise with your plight,,in todays current climate i'm more inclined to think the many jobs the construction and the actual store will create:)

signed m8 fair play to you and good luck

It Passed? very odd.... Find out if its passed with restrictions or passed initial consultation pending further information.

Hmmm maybe the land was privately owned and bought and already had planning permission rights on it....... im rattling my brain here ..... very odd.

Pm me if you like, stuff i cant post on here

    costs who money exactly?

really gets my goat vand the people that poison them because it spoils the view from their brand new apartment/house and are not allowed to remove them.... should be hung drawn n quartered

I hear what your saying however, if there are other supermarkets about, which can accomodate the volume of shoppers then an additional supermarket may bring new jobs but consequently other supermarkets end up making redundencys.
It balances out, job losses gained at one, is often because of losses at another.

If this area NEEDS a supermarket then thats when it becomes beneficial.

its not quite as clear cut as that (pardon the pun)
for every tree removed due to construction work of any sort several more are planted:thumbsup:

You are so right. With a preservation order this should not have gone ahead. Something is not right.
Im currently fighting & investigating an issue with trees being cut down, in my job. It makes my blood boil.

so you think an established 300 year old tree is ok to be removed as long as they plant a sapling.....

    get real

my point is if tesco want to build through the park-they will build through the park! its not necessarily right but its life:thumbsup:

Its a 106 agreement where the developer * offers* money to the community via the Council.

47 trees? thats like half a andy mcnab book.

won't sign but i'll not wipe my bum for a week to save on toilet paper and balance everything out.

    sorted.

mate, that may be true here but i know its not the case everywhere

some countries have protection orders on trees over a certain age and contruction companys have by law to protect and preserve the older trees or face huge fines

hence people poisoning them and facing prosecution and possible jail time if found guilty

if this isnt the case here in this country then its about time it was instigated as its us that are living in the dark ages

The council giving the council permission to cut down trees, hardly surprising!

Also trying to site it on the existing bowls club would put it very close to pinetrees court which is residential and you would expect them to challenge that application.

i agree,,but a company like tesco's will have already done their research in great detail and the outcome being they are allowed to remove those trees!

i would put my house on the fact that say in 18months time there will be a deal posted on here found at the tesco we're talking about right now:thumbsup:

No, but the council will give the planning consent and they will own the recreation ground.
