Think you might need an audio cable as well as the VGA this usually plugs in near to the VGA connector on the TV and then into the headphone socket on the laptop.

VGA is video only, there's no such thing as audio over VGA. You need a seperate audio cable. Which sort depends on what connections your TV and laptop has and whether you want surround sound or just stereo. The ubiquitous option is a 3.5mm jack to 2x RCA cable but that will only give you stereo. If you want surround sound you'll probably need some sort of optical as not many laptops have triple 3.5mm jacks, or a USB sound card if your laptop doesn't have optical.

thanks guys........... i have a nokia cable thing which has a headphone socket thing leading into 3 cables blue, white, yellow ........... is this the one your talking about.......

No you need an audio cable to get the sound from the Laptop to the TV, you could try the 3 leads you have by using say the blue but you need to connect it to sound in on your TV.

just tried connecting the yellow, and white leads to my audio in, and the other end to the headphone socket on laptop still no sound..........:?

Usually pc sound is carried to a TV using a 3 1/2 mm - 3 1/2 mm headphone style cable mate.

You need to be using the sound input specific to the pc input on the tv.

That kind of thing, have a look at the back of the TV and check you have a headphone style socket near the VGA port.

yes yes i have a whole next to the vga thing at the back of the telly that a headphone thing fits in.

In that case mate you need one of those cables to go alongside the VGA.

Connected to the laptop headphone socket on the other end.
