Found 6th Jan 2009
My neighbour has a Dell Dimension 5150 desktop that she was given but the Win XP is corrupt and needs rebuilding. She does not have the restore CD that came with it though.
Dell want silly money which she can't afford thanks to hubby deserting her and her daughter. Is there anyone out there who has the disk and could knock up a copy? We don't need the license number as that is on the case obviously. She could pay a fiver (paypal or cheque) to cover your exp's and time. Any help would be much appreciated, plse PM me

Thanks very much

(Note I have 100% / 155 pos feedback as tallpete33 on ebay but none on here yet)

ok...sounds like there is a utility partition then. Could you pm me the code if you remember it ?
We'd be v grateful. :-D
Many thanks

PM me your address and i will post you a copy of XP home FOC,As long as she has the COA she would have no problem reinstalling windows,I have never had a Dell but most PCs have a folder with all the drivers and application somewhere which you should really copy to CD in case you need a full reinstall,

It wouldnt work as the codes are different for each machine they sell. Dell aint that daft..lol

Dell
Turn on the computer.

During the boot process, a blue bar with dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press .

If you do not press in time, let the computer finish starting, and then restart the
computer again.

Dell
Dell PC Restore by Symantec restores your hard drive to the operating state it was in when you purchased the computer. Dell PC Restore permanently deletes all data on the hard drive and removes any applications installed after you received the computer. Use PC Restore only if System Restore did not resolve your operating system problem.

I have a the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 disc from dell. Got it for my old dell dimension 5150 so should work fine - have used it previously and worked great after my P.C. was blue screening all the time. Took 1 1/2 shouting down the phone but managed to get them in the end. Surprisingly fixing a corrupt HD is not as easy as reattaching the monitor cable lol.

Have the resource disk aswell with all the drivers on which I'll include.

PM your address and I'll send them out. All I ask is that they are returned when your done with them

Hello all
I will try the abomination restore method first. If the Windows is stored locally on a restore partition then that will be the way to go. If not I'll be back for the disc !
Cheers everyone, you've been very helpful, rep added
