like i said its one of the reasons i want a new one.
This takes longer to boot up than my kettle do to boil when its full and about 3 times as long as my kids laptops do and theres are only a 3rd of the price i paid for this.
Its starting to turn its self off and i have no idea why ie no bugs or anything i can see wrong with it.
so my wonderfull hubby who only ever uses a laptop now and then has said i can have a new one for my bd and he will get this one fixed for himself lol

Plenty of deals lately on HUKD, you should check them out and see which is suitable for you. What will you be using it for?

And on reflection just upgrade your HDD or get an external one?

so if i cant with £350 how much should i spend

Why not just reinstall windows after you save photos etc & it will be as fast as the first day you bought it.

£399 would be the minimum to spend at the moment

thanks peodude but i dont really want another toshiba this is my second one now and i would just like a change i know its a girly thing lol

The only change from a Toshiba i would make is to a Sony, and they're out your price range.

I've had a couple of laptops where the fans/heat exchangers get so clogged with dust the CPU overheats (the laptop doesn't feel really hot) and runs at a cut down speed - when it gets worse they start cutting out randomly as soon as you stress them a little.
There are a few free system information tools (I've used SIW before) - they can tell you whether your CPU is overheating. If that is the problem you can google / ask for advice on cleaning the dust out...
