Both my son and daughter have laptops. I the last 2 days neither of them can use Facebook, ebay and we can't accesss our emails (mine through AOL but I think theirs are Hotmail). This site (obviously) is fine. Any ideas on what's causing the problem?

That's far too little information scabbers. Is it only these two sites that you can't access? If so what do you get instead? Wired or wireless?

We are wireless. I think it's some other sites too but I know for sure ebay, AOL and Facebook.

Sometimes resetting the router helps you to go back on pages, i have had probs before and spent ages trying and it fails, reset the router then it stops the problems.

Someone just posted a similar thread.. mentioning the same sites.. you prob have the same ISp and its an ISP problem

Or spyware and they have the same spyware! Run SpyBot Search And Destroy

exactly the same problems with me.....................

Are you both with AOL ? if so it is likely their issue

When it happens try this:

Download this file: techmonkeys.co.uk/dow…bat

Save ti to yoru desktop then run it, a clack screen will open, then after a short while it will close and notepad window will open, copy and paste the contents of the text file here.

This wont fix your problem, but it will help us find the issue.

Yes, I am with AOL. I can get on to ebay and Facebook but not worth it'cos it's taking FOREVER! I will show my daughter this when she gets in ....thanks for all help x x x

i had big problems with aol about a year ago.. couldnt access certain sites, turned out it was something to do with the routing servers they use

Why would we suddenly have problems....should I contact AOL? I'm not tied in a contractwith them.

I would deffinitely contact AOL as it is there issue, and I will tell you the same I tell my customers when I go out to their homes. Leave AOL and go with someone else. You will get better service, reliability and price from a number of other suppliers

Think Broadband.com have very good comparison charts for which is best ISP at the moment.

Look at this to see how badly AOL compare against others: thinkbroadband.com/isp…are

Ok, looks like that is what I'll do! Hate dealing with the AOL customer service anyway. Do you know any that are UK based?

definatly leaving AOl...........

Freedom2Surf are who I use, very reliable, UK based and good tech support, they are not the cheapest, but you sometimes get what you pay for.

If you do choose to go with them when it asks if you were referred by a friend then please put "dmccabe" and I get a free month I think

problem seems to have sorted itself but will def be changing from AOL :x
