Help needed with wireless mic. for xbox 360

I'm having a problem with it connecting to player one...it always goes to player 2 even if no player 2 is signed in, and it won't change back to player one so i can't use it...maybe that wasn't very well explained or maybe im being an idiot and its something really obvious but its annoying me now, if anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

dont have one so wouldnt know, wired one wouldnt do that, but i dont like wired ones

I had the same problem a while ago, found out that it was not working due to my controller (purchased on release date) not liking it, got my controller replaced with a new one and it has been working properly even since.

so it could be the controller?
i got mine as compensation for my xbox breaking twice...honestly microsoft are soooo much hassle

Not had the problem myself, but have heard of others having it.

This is from the manual, does it help at all ?

'If you want to associate the wireless headset with a controller on a different quadrant, press the connect button on the wireless headset. This manually advances the quadrant to match the quadrant of the controller that you want. For example, to associate the wireless headset with a controller that is connected to quadrant 3, press the connect button three times within 20 seconds of when you started the connection process. You will hear one beep from the wireless headset if you select the first quadrant, two beeps if you select the second quadrant, and three beeps if you select the third quadrant.'

I know you may have the manual, but if not here's a link to it:

    Hope you get it sorted.

Its a known problem with pairing the headset and the controller. Basically its your controller that's at fault. You will have to get a replacement one from Microsoft.

This was interesting, posted on a forum:

'I work for a videogame company that makes controllers and recently found out what causes the wireless headset not to connect with some controllers. The inside of the mic input on all 360 controllers can get warped from using a wired headset. When it warps, it causes the metal to create a bridge when the mic is removed. The controller thinks the mic is still plugged in when it's removed, because of this bridge. A wired mic will take priority over a wireless mic. When you go to connect your wireless mic to a controller that is bridged, it will just move over to the next available quadrant'

    Possible ?
