from source I would say

any good?

dont no if ps3 and you're other diveces are hdmi out with the sound if they are you maybe able to get a hdmi to 6 pin aux lead at a guess other than that its stereo sound i think.

then it looks like you're stuck with stereo while researching i found that you need a better sound system ie: one that supports optical input hope that helps

You can't get real surround sound from a 2 channel input. You need something like a creative ddts-100 to go between your devices and the speaker system. Then you'd connect the PS3 to the DDTS-100 via optical cable and the DDTS to your speaker system via a 3 x 3.5mm to 6 x rca cable.

There are 3 optical, 3 analogue rca and 1 digital coaxial input on the DDTS-100.

If you want quadrophonic sound then you could always get an RCA splitter cable to feed the Left & Right audio channels of a device into the Front & Rear Left and Front & Rear Right speaker inputs on the subwoofer

Edit: There's a Creative DDTS-100 on eBay at the moment - they are VERY hard to find these days.

spot on!

I've got one;

I assume it came with a speaker system or something because I haven't physically bought the individual cable but I assume they're available.

It is basically 3 x 3.5mm to 2 rca held together but the colour-coding is useful.

As best I understand it, you wont be getting proper surround sound with your setup. If you're using anything other than optical or HDMI (digital connections, basically), then you're just getting stereo sound over five speakers and a subwoofer. I don't believe that anything you do with that system will be giving you true Dolby surround sound.

I haven't had any luck finding one either - 3 seperate stereo 3.5mm to 2 rca cables will suffice if you can get hold of a ddts-100. I think my cable came with my logitech Z-5500 speaker system.

3 of these would do

It's pseudo surround sound, the box will decode it and guess where to send it, usually reasonably well. Not a lot of things are broadcast in 5.1 anyway
