Hi decided to treat myself by spending the interest on my savings on the Sony NWZ-639FB. It says its AAC compatible and iTunes compatible, but I was wandering if I bought music off iTunes would it not be specifically locked for use on ipod only?

Yeah that was my concern. I heard EMI and a few indie labels dont have DRM but I would imagine that about 80%(??) of the stuff would be DRM protected.

Unprotected AAC only, i.e the stuff you rip yourself and import into Itunes. Anything bought from the Itunes store will be DRM'd and won't work. (apart from maybe the 320kbps 99p tracks, think they're unprotected).

yeah chatted with a apple rep there said only iTunes Plus songs would work. Wanted to use itunes because I heard it was easy and it is possible to get good discount on vouchers from ebay...but alas doesn't look like it will be worth it if im limited to a few songs

Get an ipod classic, 120GB for about £170.

I would but I really love the sound quality of sonys walkmans and this one has good great reviews on sound compared to the average sound quality of the ipods. thanks for the help - repped
