Hey i got my samsung nc10 today and only got back from work at 12am so havent had time to use it but first thing i tried to do was set up the wireless that is in my house - it detects the router and connects but doesnt seem to be able to aqquire the ip address and i get "limited or no connectivity" ---- its def not my router as my sister latop is connected and my 360 --- my router is a netgear DG834G

Anyone got any ideas or thoughts as how to fix it

try turning on windows wireless zero config.

go into control panel . . . admin tools . . .services . . . find wireless zero .. . and turn it on

Mmmm, maybe password as well? I think you can - do as above - says, and then it should find your network, and ask you for the name of it...

One possibility is have you 'hidden' your IP address on your router since the other items were connected (a security feature). You could check your router manager software to see if it's set to broadcast the IP location. When it's happened to us (on a different router) that has been the reason. Once it's broadcasting it should just ask for the WEP or WPA key to connect. Just a possibility

EDIT : just read your post again & you say it does detect your router, so not that sorry.

Off topic, how much did your nc10 cost dan?

I want one desperately cos my laptop is in a bad state

Does it have a sim card slot for optional internet access btw?

Rob, everyone who missed out on the Viking Netbook deal, should have had an email saying that they have sourced another similar deal available to all that missed out....
I would post a request, as we are talking
- core 2
- 3 gig ram
- 13 inch screen
- about £230.

I have received my email, but depending on the puter equivalent, I might take it....There was loads who went for it, so there will be some "customers" who won't take them up on their offer...
Might be a better option, depending on what you need...

The main reason for the limited connectivity message is because the WG111 … The main reason for the limited connectivity message is because the WG111 USB adaptor is unable to aquire a valid IP address from your wireless router

Sounds like something your were describing :
pcadvisor.co.uk/for…=18

Also try the netgear forum :

got it for £300 on the dixons site
no sim card slot

usually the ip message is a little misleading, the reason being the network security key is either not present or incorrect.
don't think the netgears have a "new client timeout", mine doesn't but yours may so try rebooting the router first then re-enter the network key if you are using security.

Don't know if this is relevant, but i have netgear wireless adapter on my laptop.

I used to use the netgear software to connect to the (netgear) router. This worked fine for a couple of months but all of a sudden decided to start acting up. I did the usual stuff like getting the latest drivers and software etc, still wouldn't work properly, used to get the same "limted or no connectivity" message.

So I decided to use windows to connect to the router, now it works a treat, no problems at all.

Which is nice.....

i think the problem is i run my pc straight from the router so i dnt have any software on ym comp to edit anything or even look at anything

ON MY CONNECTION i have a lock next to receive and a exclamation point in a yellow triangle connected to the wireless logo -
