Help re: Ps3 consoles

    Hi all,

This may be a stupid question.

I currently have one of the old fat 80gb PS3's. If I am looking to get a newer, slim one how can all the data be transferred onto the new machine so I dont lose anything?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, in one of the system updates klast year they added a feature to tranfer/copy your contents to an external hard drive and then when you start the new machine the feature should also allow you to copy it all back. Have a google and im sure there is a guide for it

ok cool, thanks for your help.

under the system menu theres the data transfer option and I believe you can plug 2 PS3's together with a crossover cable to transfer the data.

Doing it through the normal backup/restore will lose anything that is specifically locked to the original console ie copy protected saves etc.
