help regarding when paying debt through card transaction??

Hi to cut a long story short i was using a debt company to pay of my debts with a set fee every month, now im sending the payments myself but got a letter from one saying i missed 2 payments and need to make payment on these 2 with my debit card,is it safe for me to use my card to pay them 2 payments as i dont want them taking more than what the letter requested.

    thanks

Just tell them you no longer have a card as you cut it up in order to stop impulse online purchases so only have a basic cashcard.

    anyone else

Personally no. Ask for a payment book, did you see dispatches on c4 on debt collectors, they would do anything to get money, I wouldnt trust them.

so its possible they could take more than the amount i agree on when calling them up and payig via my card

You paid the companies you owe money to directly, and you are asking whether you should pay the debt company too? :?

no im paying the companys i owe money to directly,i just got a letter from one of the banks asking me to pay for the last 2 payments i missed but im worried if i pay by card that they might take more than what they have asked for on the letter.have they got the right to do this?

So, did they get the money you sent or not.
That would be my starting point.

Okay, your opening post made it seem like you'd sent it.

They aren't allowed to take more than you authorise, but that doesn't mean they can't.

Can you not send a cheque? My ex used to give me the cash, and I would write a cheque to the company for her, as her bank account was closed.

says on the letter payment by cards, will call them and ask if they would takr a cheque and then set up a standing order for future payments
