Found 9th May 2008
I visited a local TV shop today who are advertising a free 5 year guarantee on Panasonic TVs. Instore the salesman told me that the guarantee is provided by Panasonic. I can't find anything about this on the Panasonic website or anywhere else on the web.
Has anybody else seen this offer or any information about it?
Does the offer from Panasonic exist?

yes, they are

to further clarify, just spoke to a mate who works for a tv company (will not name which) and he said that the 5 year guarantees are for offline purchases only (I.E. from retail stores) designed to try and steal customers back from internet companies as they trying to kill off the internet electronic industry

but some online retailers who also have shops are sometimes on the list - last time empire direct were one of the retailers in the scheme and empire direct shops will usually match their online price.

There is a thread on the avforums about this

There is a direct link to the scheme here - including a list of retailers...
