Help required for Consumer survey on plastic bags.

    Hi guys,

For a part of my university coursework I am trying to investigate plastic bags and supermarkets' activities.

I have set up an online survey and would be thoroughly grateful if you didn't mind responding.

It is 10 questions long and mainly consists of short multiple choice questions although there are also a couple of open ended questions in there.

The survey is anonymous and results will just be used for my research.

If you wish to contact me send me a PM and I will get back in touch.

    Thanks again.

Wow many thanks for all your responses so far, (hasn't even been on half an hour) wanted to gain a varied range of results rather than hand it out at uni to fellow students, and figured why not post on hot deals Thanks again.

    Done..

lets hope you dont have to collate the 2,000 replies you are going to get - might have been better to do your uni friends - lol

Done, good luck. Can I just point out that I dont feel that I (and maybe others) have answered the last question effectively as I only have experience of 2 supermarkets so I answered the one I frequent most. Not saying this to p on your bonfire honestly its just I struggled to answer it truthfully due to lack of knowledge of other supermarkets .

Done it for you mate, Good Luck

Thats ok, I suppose I should have made it clearer that its not necessarily ones you visit, but also from what you see in the news, brand image, perception etc. For that question I have a journal article where a supermarket is claimed to be the most environmentally friendly and won an award. It will just be interesting to see if people pick that supermarket. ;-) Thanks again!

    ditto!

    Have completed the survey.

This is an interesting topic for your project. Im 45 and I clearly remember even as a young adult, having to pay for supermarket carrier bags and until probably 15 yrs ago, always had to pay for a carrier bag in corner shops. People in the not so distant past, always had a shopping bag, or at least a string bag in their pocket or handbag. I always had a carrier bag tucket in my handbag. The phenomenon of free carrier bags is a pretty recent one and i for one am very glad that supermarkets are going to charge for them.

However... If supermarkets want to charge for the bags again, they firstly need to look to their massive over packaging of produce, including the pallets of goods delivered to the supermarket, swathed in miles of plastic wrap. That is a massive waste and a supermarket just charging for bags whilst doing nothing else, is barely paying lip service to the waste issue.

    Rant over

ps. any chance of seeing your finished report or even the survey results? Am interested.

    done.......

Bought a cucumber yesterday, tesco have stopped wrapping wrapping it in plastic then putting it in another plastic bag. Unless it was duff stock :w00t:

    Just completed for you.

I always re-use bags and mainly non-plastic types and have done for over 2 years now. The next step is to reduce packaging!

    Good luck.

    Done:thumbsup:

Many thanks for all your responses.

    filled in.
oddly me and my partner always end up discussing this when we get to the check outs at Tesco, would be nice to see your finished findings

Filled in mine, too. Those of you that are against paying for bags, I really recommend you come join the light side, and just buy yourself a nice rucksack in which to carry your shopping home. The walk home is much nicer when it's all on your back and not cutting into your hands, and it's good to be able to txt on the way home.

    Completed, Hope it helps:thumbsup:
