Help! Sky Player on Xbox

Hi,

I've got Sky Player downloaded and working on my Xbox. It works some of the time, and streams in High Quality...However...it is often stuttering, buffering and stopping, telling me that my internet speed is not sufficient and that I i should try a lower quality (which are terrible).

I have run a speed test and my speed is 7.9mb, way above the 3.5mb required to stream in the highest quality.

My ISP is Virgin Media.

Any advice on if it is at all possible to boost my speed, or a reason why this might be happening would be gratefully recieved and heat + rep added.

Many thanks

Andrew

Try a wired connection?

How are you connecting to the net? Cable or Wireless

Are you with Virgin Cable or ADSL?

Virgin could be traffic shaping it
Try giving them a call to ask.
I know that bandwidth for the isp i work for went through the roof on the day the player came out.
infact we more or less ran out and had to buy more

this is cobblers, the wireless BRIDGE works fine, the new one just takes advantage of 802.11n

well strange it dosent work for me with my adaptor yet works wired... although might be the same with the new one who knows. Im sure theres many things that can effect the wireless signal how bout canging the feq of your wireless router... of course this is assuming this is what your using

wireless issues could be channel interference, signal strength, etc etc

I use the wireless bridge all the time, no worries.

ha i knew you would say that after i posted so had amended it straight away LOL, but basically you wont get these sort of problems wired agreed?

depends, a directly connected cable would usually be fine, 100Mbps full duplex generally yes.

the home plugs are 100Mbps (at best) 1/2 Duplex so really 50Mbps yeah its ok

WLAN 54Mbps 1/2 duplex plus signal strength degradation

However I am streaming HD video to my xbox from a pc in my cellar via wireless which is fine.

I am a Cisco Wireless Specialist so I know a little about it..........

Im just saying switching to wired seemed to work for me, although streaming media centre live tv didnt seem to be affected with the wireless so I have no idea why that would be, thought the new one having two arials might have better range? but then he might be using a wire anyway!
