Help - Slow speeds over network

I have a small problem with my LAN at the moment... the maximum speed I can reach whilst transferring files over my network seems to only be 1.66mb/s. I'm using a Netgear DG834GT 108Mbps router, and when transferring files from one computer to another over the network through the ethernet connections, the fastest speed I can reach is 1.66Mb/s.

Anyone know how I can increase the speeds of transfer? Both my computers I use are quite modern with gigabit ethernet ports.

Yeah, burn your files onto DVDR and transfer them that way.......

Try adjusting your Speed & Duplex settings ( I have mine set to Auto)

If you right click on your network connection then select properties then click on the configure button.

This opens a new window click on the Advanced Tab and select Speed & Duplex from the list. Then select Auto from the drop down on the right. If Auto is already selected try 100 mb full.

    I hope this helps.

    Check the following.

    That QoS is not on.

Are you using the router's firewall as well as one on each PC? If so lose the firewall on the PCs.

    Anti-Virus not interfering.

The duplex settings are important as mentioned earlier, a duplex mis-match can cause numerous issues.

How is your PC share set-up?
