Help !! Slugs in my house

Please can someone help me... I am so sick now of getting up in the morning to discover huge slug trails in my lounge.

This has been hapening for a few weeks, thought i had figured out where they were coming from, put down a trial of slug killer on the carpets around skirting board and salt on top of the skirting but past 2 days the trail is coming from the other end of the room,

The only thing i can think is that they are getting in through the air vent things on the outside wall, where i also put down slug killer. i never find the slugs, just the trails.

It is annoying me so much now i could scream, does anyone know how i can get rid of them, any help would be much appriciated

    Thanks

Before you go to bed at night check in the garden if you have one. Launch them over the fence or wall! works for me! I did read that you could put out a saucer off beer. The are attracted to this and drown! or get drunk and die.

    Kill...

I really dunno what you can do.

We get them in the kitchen.

I read that they usually appear in older house where the foundations are all cracked, so maybe they aren't coming in via the vent.

When we see one we'll throw it out the back, they can get through small spaces tho as I've seen them coming in under my kitchen units and the space there is millimeters.

    Maybe ring your factor/housing association?

Oh I also read something about putting salt all around the outskirts of your house too, I dunno if that would help tho.

I have also heard about the beer thing, I guess anything is worth a try.

Whatever you do don't sleep on the floor! I stayed in an old house with slugs and I slept on a fold out bed on the floor. I woke up to find i was sharing the bed with a slug :x Very gross indeed!

How about sprinkling salt around all the edges of all the rooms involved and around the outside of the property. Normal house salt shouldn't affect anything other than the slugs (or snails) so it's worth the mess for a few days to get rid of them.

i would vomit if i woke up with them !! yeah gonna get a big supply of salt at tescos later

    shut the door?

Yeah salt kills the little sods. We get loads in the garden. Put Salt on them, and they sizzle and shrivvle up!

I dunno if this would help, but I used to find them slithering around (their trails mostly, hardly saw them in person lol) in the morning. I used to ignore it but I got sick of it.

I started looking for cracks and holes that lead to the garden and I found one hole. I shut it tighly using some tissue and never seen a slug ever again :).

I don't know how your house is, if you have a garden at the back and a front garden, look around for holes and cracks around the doors, shut them. you'll get rid off them the nice way =)

yeah we got gardens, not grass though, front is gravelled and back patio, yeah think im gonna have to do some investigations for holes and cracks and fill them, i cant ignore them any more ! its sooooo annoying

We have had the same problem this year- at first I thought a couple had been bought in on clothes or shoes - from the kids playing in the garden so I removed them.,.. then there was a couple of other times when I found a few in the kitchen.

Then I also found that there was a leak from the waste pipe and had probably been occuring for quite a while, making the underneath of the sink cabinet wet. No wonder the little sods were coming in!

why not collect them and make some nice stew? Don't waste them: they are free!!

    slugs are free?

    Weeeeeeeee yaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy

on which diet plan ? lol

thats weird because we have also had them this year never happened before, at first i blamed the dog i thought he was dribbling after his drink bless him he was 14 but only found 1 slug and trust me i have hunted high and low and its still happening i have checked cupboards perhaps they are taking over the world they are really horrible

or alternatively cook them halfway thru, and shallow fry them until softly crispy.

Isn't it funny that there is relief in finding out that you are not the only one!

    They are so scummy.

Just be careful if you have a dog, I'm not sure if it affects cats also, that disease that some slugs carry is harmful to them if they eat them.

no,slugs are good for you.no more constipation problem! just nice juicy sliding.

I have had a plague of slugs in the garden for years but have also seen them in the kitchen. Couldnt work out why but then like you have both mentioned found a leak under the kitchen sink. Hopefully when all dries out the problem will go away.

@vikkiwathall If you are getting are getting slugs in the lounge it may be worth investigating if there is a leak from somewhere. Central heating pipes... leak in plumbing under the floorboards. They need somewhere damp so there it most probably a source somewhere.

I know where you are coming from. Especially if you have to trust to calling tradesmen. Blank cheque territory if you are not carefull :x

My friends wouldnt believe me when i told them i had slug trails in the house.
We have a family of them in the garden (no grass just a patio area) they get in the house by the help of my dog he brings them in on his paws/fur....they are massive yeuck! I actually stood and watch the slugs eating my dogs dinner they climb into his dish if he leaves anything, so he now gets his feet checked when he comes into the house much to his annoyance.....dont like them dont mind them in the garden but not in ma hoose!!: w00t:

You only see the trails and not the slugs because they enter the room at night and leave before dawn. If you wake up in the night, go to the lounge and look for them. If you find them take them out and kill them. If you don't kill them , they will come back.
