HELP! Unsubscribing from unwanted text messages

My son has subscribed (without my knowledge) to receive transfer news regarding Liverpool FC from Sky Sports, but I am unable to find out how to stop this NOW! Text message no is 40009, have tried replying UNSUBSCRIBE to this number, but to no avail. Have contacted Vodafone, but they refuse to help! Please can anyone help.
    This is costing a fortune.
If anyone is successful in helping me to stop these, then I will give rep.
    Many thanks!

yes reply with STOP... that works with these text subscription services but sometimes it takes a few days to work thro the system so you may still receive some texts for a few days.

Thanks very much! Have now done what you said.
Do they normally text back to confirm cancellation, or is it just taken as cancelled automatically, is it effective immediately?
