The second system down is £150, and you could get the cambridge ipod dock for £9.99. I don't think you could beat that system for the money.

just spied this - waht do people think?has the look im after and speakers look good - alos does everything the others do amazon.co.uk/Son…109

If you have a Richer Sounds near you I'd suggest you go in and ask to listen to the package listed in the earlier post and also ask what they have on clearance - you may get lucky and pick up a better deal. If it's the looks you are after then the Sony on Play would seem your choice, otherwise go & have a listen, you may get a surprise & at worst it would put your mind at rest.

I haven't listened to either but I'd suspect there'd be a noticeable difference.

Much appreciated thanks. I always check out Richersounds periodically. The best part is you can usually haggle a bit when you go in store too.

Hi,

I'm faced with the same dilemma of choosing a mini hifi system for my apartment. I've only done research on the internet so far and haven't popped down to a store to actually listen to any one of them.

Here are the contenders:

]iLuv I199 High-Fidelity Mini Hi Fi System £140 @ Amazon (or £99 for the older model)
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31u5kdlczWL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

]Klipsch Room Groove - Wireless iPod Speaker System £99 @ Amazon

]Sony CMT-BX70DBi DAB Micro System With Built In iPod Dock £99 @ Amazon

]Onkyo CS-325UK B Mini Hi Fi £185 @ Amazon

http://www.eu.onkyo.com/ir_img/17619324_2b6aeaf26e.jpg

And last, but not least:
Denon D-M37DAB Can't find it in Amazon, but seems to be available elsewhere for about £220

The iLuv unit has interesting features like alarm clock and the Klipsch is the most basic of them all, but I'd imagine its got pretty good sound quality?

The mini hifi ones, i.e. Sony, Onkyo and Denon obviously had the advantage of having DAB and speakers that can be moved, if required :-)

What do you think?

I would take the Onkyo from the ones you list, but without hearing them all, you would be making a guess. As you suggest the systems with integrated speakers will be bottom of the pile for sound quality.

Thanks for your reply. I guess you get what you pay for :-D. Both the Denon and Onkyo have two audio inputs, which might come in handy in case I'd want to hook em up with my TV too.

The Onkyo lags behind the others in its peer group is the lack of USB connectivity, so recording to an external device or reading music off a USB memory stick.
