Help wanted - restless leg syndrome

    or 'busy' legs
just lately i have been suffering a lot - especially at night. tried massage and paracetamol and tensing the muscles etc. could really do with some advice as to the best way to deal with it. googling it says there is no cure and not much helps so if anyone knows anything that works i would be very grateful!

Sorry...I get this sometimes too....some exercise to tire them out maybe?? :?

I know people who have had acupuncture to help with this with a high degree of sucess. Never done it personally so can't tell you first hand im afraid

you need someone to give you a god rub....on the legs of course!

    Hi,
I suffer very badly with it too , so can sypathise- quinine can work for some people -you could try quinine tablets from the doctor or drink Tonic water as that has it in too.

Red Bull gives you wings! (Hasn't that got quinine in:?)

My fiance used to get it alot, it used to take him hours to get to sleep,he now has a more physical job and falls asleep with in about 2 mins of getting into bed.(thank god) Maybe you should go see your doctor, infact sitting here thinking about it, alot of things were happening around the same time when DF legs stopped getting restless but one of them was that he stopped smoking? this could just be coisidence and u might not even smoke so there probably is not a link but just a thought

my mum suffered this quite a lot, turned out to be a thyroid problem.

Have you any other health problems?

    nothing major. anti-d's for stress.

You need full checks, blood tests etc. Keep going back to GP. If it is that bad they will refer you to a specialist.

Did you have RSL before using the anti-ds? RSL could be a side effect. You could try changing the anti'ds.:)

I put my legs up in the air for a couple of minutes, seems to do the trick. Either that or maybe I just tire myself out and go to sleep?!

    Quoted from the article:

"Occasionally, restless legs are a side effect of drug treatment with an antidepressant."

actually it seems that its got worse when i have forgotten to take them! perhaps the a-d's improve it!

isnt it strange when medication can give such horrid side effects, i take one that gives me nightmares and hallucinations, i often wake up in the night screaming!
