    Help wanted scariest movie 18

Hi my eldest Son is very nearly 18 and due to me being a little strict i have never let him watch a horror over the 15 age.
So thought his first opportunity should be a real good one, i am hoping for some help tho as im not a horror person either, Not just blood and guts would like suggestions of jumping out of seat thriller type.
Any help would be much apprciated.

I'm sure he's probably been watching hardcore giallo films round his mate's house for years!

Anyway - I could list loads but - REC?

    creep

    different things scare different peeps

As for jumping out your seats and a scary atmosphere i think paranormal activity is probably among the best and most original

    rec2 lol

it,saw movies are quite gory, the exorcist, scared the crap outta me

Scariest movie ever is considered to be The Exorcist.

    the shining

    the tooth fairy

I filled my pants a tiny bit at Paranormal activity.

I know its a crappy film but im not really a horror film person but my wife might well have been watching a comedy film laughing at me!

Theres loads out there. We really liked watching "The descent" or a really sick one with not alot of blood and guts is "The Human Centerpede".

Seriously....is this a wind up.Nearly 18 and hasn't even been allowed to watch a horror film.
Some people seriously damage their children, with sheltered upbringings.
Anyway,if you want him to watch a horror show....Get him a ticket for Upton Park.

Thanks Scrumpy, scared me that much as a kid, tried so much to forget it.

Really? You've never let him watch a properly scary film, and you want his first one to be the scariest you can find? That doesn't make sense.

Anyway, most of the suggestions above are terrible films. Rec? Hostel? Seriously?

Well yes, sheltered maybe, however i know a fair few parents who think nothing of watching these films with their children sat next to them at the age of 9..... and we know what they turn out like don't we?

A Nightmare on Elm Street (Original)

saw ,thats it great horror film on all levels

A lot of the Asian films have been a very unsettling watch, examples:- Ringu, Shutter etc (but not the quite terrible Hollywood remakes).

I'd like to hear the argument for this statement.

In my opinion it's just sick, not scary.

i personally think it's a good thing to restrict what children see.

my daughters were introduced, by me, to shockers/thrillers like "jaws" and similar when I thought they were ready to appreciate a bit of mild peril. they thoroughly enjoyed them, even if they did watch from behind their hands!!

when they are a bit older then they can move on to more scary stuff but good for you OP for starting this thread.

The Hostel, cause it sounds like he's been missing out on a couple of types of film for that age group (_;)

Fright Night is quite an old film but was very good and not too scary, likewise Vamp. Salems Lot was very good but is quite scary (I was at school when I was this though). Hope this helps.

Alot of these films mentioned are just not scary at all.
Depends on what type of horror

    For creepyness - The Changeling
Blood and guts the French are very good at this with films like Frontiers and Inside.
