Help: What can I do with a spare 3.5" IDE drive?

Found 23rd Jan 2010
Hi all

I have a spare 3.5" IDE drive, and wanted to make good use of it. I was thinking of just getting an enclosure and making it into an external drive, but then started wondering if I could make it a network drive instead.

Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You can buy network drive enclosures fairly cheap.

thanks - any ideas where from? I've had a look all afternoon, and the cheapest I can see are for around £70 - £80

It's a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (120Gb)

Works perfectly well, it used to be in my PVR, until I upgraded it recently

I had a spare 200GB drive so put it in an external enclosure so I sould use it for backing up my most important data. Being external I can hide it away easily and it's quick to backup to hard drive. How upset would you be for example if either your current drive died or got stolen ?
Just another thought as to what to use it for. And enclosures can be had for about £10.
