On my PC if you have Xp you can recover this programme using xp system restore.

As you know already carry out the procedure as below but take it back several weeks.

1. Click start button
2. Click help and support
3. Click system restore ( Under additional resources )
4. Follow the instructions. Restore to an earlier time. I normally take it back a week or Two before I have done something silly. It does not affect any work you have done on your PC previously

Hope this helps.

thanks grimm6 will try that again i hope it works

use system restore as a last resort you can easily download media player

have searched all the torrent sites, can't find Microsoft thingy anywhere !! Is it new, has nobody cracked it yet, what does it do. I don't care, I obviously need it now.

Can you upload it for me ? I will pay for it. Name your price. Is it the thingy 2007 version. Will my PC be able to run it ? Is it xp compatible or will I have to upgrade to Vista thingy plus ?

that microsoft thingy :giggle:

So someone has got a pirated copy of XP which fails the authorisation test that has to be successful to allow the Explorer 7 and Media Player 11 updates...well according to microsoft they are a very common part of the PC community....there are millions of them.

:giggle: @currychops, silly huh

anyways, i dont understand how someone can actually physically delete WMP off their PC 'by mistake' You'd have to go into add/remove programs to remove it, and if you did that by mistake then you must be in some kind of serious trance :giggle: Sure you didnt just delete the shortcut OP?

if you go into "program files" you'll see a folder for "windoes media player"..if you open that folder you should see a file called "MP10setup"...if you double click that file it should reinstall Media Player 10.

paceCETTA..I have just looked in my Add/Remove programs and cannot see an entry for Windows media player so can it be deleted?

oh right, well then it must be even harder to delete! At work, so i was just guessing thats how to delete it.

Personally i dont use WMP, use winamp, but for kids i imagine WMP is a lot more simplistic

well i just went and clicked when it said to upgrade then realised my error, it must have wiped off the previous wmp, i didnt go in to remove programes...! im not a computer wizard..

I don't mean to point out the obvious, but why don't you get a legit version of windows?

I'm rather surprised this thread is allowed, as it's effectively a request for how to bypass copywrite protection.

PS Currychops you can remove WMP by going to add/remove programmes and selecting "windows components"

Nahhh, that only removes the short cut from the start menu ! It is almost impossible to delete wmp, unless you go into Explorer and delete the directory
