Aviemore is a great place in the summer. Lots to do and amazing scenery. You can also go to Landmark centre for the day. Lots around that area

What kind of holiday are you looking for? one by the coast? one in the highlands? do you want to be near big cities? is good weather important?

Been there too and is fantastic for kids, the pool was the best.

This place is absolutely fabulous. Pets are welcome too. It's set in beautiful surroundings and is the perfect retreat.

It really depends what u want -

I've got a 2yr old and heaps to do!

Well for instance if u drove up the road u could to -

Edinburgh

Perth - Lovely scenery

Aberdeen - Granite City (oil capital)

go up Deeside - Banchory, Aboyne, Braemar, (Crathie) - (Balmoral - where the queen resides)
if its summer time catch a hightland games...

go from here - over the lecht to Dufftown - get one of the Whisky Distillers....

then from here over to Aviemore... your son too young for Landmark to be honest but there is a play area in the Highland Resort......

up to Inverness - see Loch ness and various other sites.

then down the A9 to Perth....

hope gives u some ideas.....
