Ring the school.

as easy as that?

You need to contact the Local County Council....look on their website. You will have to apply via them (admissions)

Well I believe the application process varies by the local education … Well I believe the application process varies by the local education authority so the school would be the first place I'd start.

thank you, will do

Hey up LFC - a handy hint because I''ve not long been through this with eldest daughter.

You do have to apply through the admissions department of whatever council area you are moving to but it is worth checking out and doing a bit of research as to what the local schools are like for the catchment area you are moving to. If you have a choice of schools then make your own mind up.

I say this because when I moved, the local admissions/LEA initially "pressured" me towards a certain school. After I had gone through the procedures and then made a visit the school, I found out it was a bit of a hell-hole with a shortage of numbers and I ended up having to go through appeals and allsorts to move her to a better school.

Hopefully you won't have any probs but just thought I would share my experience!

I am trying to do it atm, here in blackpool nothing is dealt with by the school now although i did call in. I rang admissions and was sent a form filled it in and received a ( we have your form reply) still waiting now 3.5 weeks on. I did ask and they did check when i called in though but they said both years were full which we needed, apparently even if this is the case you can still appeal.
If theyre full they will locate to your nearest school, i am eagely waiting x

Lynds, I've done it many times over my kids schooling, the schools/local education authority always told me they wouldnt even contemplate enrolling a child unless I had actually moved.

One time I moved onto the same road as a really good school for my kids in Surrey, there was a place for my youngest but not for my eldest..apparently...but i sat him out of school for a couple of weeks and then he was given a place.

Just ring the education authority near where you want to go, they should be able to give you a list of available places at the local schools.

Good luck..so glad my boys are grown up now :-)

Change kids for ones already at the school in question, that way avoid all the hassle and paperwork

Received, hope everything works out for you x x

On a sidenote - if you move out of a schools catchment area, do you have to change schools?

Thanks x
