Help with Dell laptop processor choice please

Want a new laptop with XP and thanks to Mike we now have codes for this.

    Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor T2060(1.6GHz/533MHz/1MB)
    AMD Turion TM 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50

Trying to decide between a Dell Inspiron 6400 (£386 one year CAR warranty) and 1501 (£351 90 days CAR).

What are the benefits of the Intel over the AMD above, and what has the 6400 got other than this to make it worth buying?

For 30 odd quid I would go for the Intel, they've been battering the AMD for a while and as far as I know are still faster and use less power (although AMD are supposed to be catching them)

The extra CAR Warranty would appeal to me too, it only has to go wrong once in that year and it's about 30 quid special delivery to Dell. There's your money that you saved well and truly gone.

Try typing into Google 'Intel v AMD' and adding some keywords such as 'turion' and 'dual-core' and you will find there are a few sites that will go a lot deeper into the differences and help to make your mind up.

the inspiron 1501 comes in 14.1" or 15.4".. 6400 is only 15.4" alone. Does look somewhat nicer though and has the media buttons on the front.
Pentium core duo is approx equal to the Turion 64 x 2 (other than the latter is 64 bit not 32). You'd need a core 2 duo to see much differance. The one year CAR vs 90 days would be a factor for me personally - I wouldn't want to pay for return postage on something this heavy should there be a problem. both are covered for one year by statute though.
    Personal opinion really... and £35!
