You might get a few ideas at this page on Amazon. Scroll down a bit and you'll see a selection to peruse.

Yes, but some people have to post for the sake of it!

For the OP, I thought that ALL electrical installations (ie re-wireing) had to now be done by a qualified electrician - making a "basic knowledge" a bit pointless? Or is it a full qualification you are looking for?

Practice on the wires in your house, if you stick your tongue on the live wire you get CANDY!

I don't see anything in there to support your claim that ALL rewireing(sp) needs to be done by a qualified electrician.

It's more complicated than that. The term "Re-wiring" suggests that there is something to replace. Most circuits in a house are rarely notifiable.

Sounds reasonable!

Here's a few links to get you going and may be useful

There must be loads of (free) info out there - though the googleing I just did seems to be mostly pay courses!

Thanks:thumbsup:

They won’t expect you to know too much about electrical work/wiring regs etc at this stage, that what you are enrolling for, but you will impress them if your have some basic knowledge, such as resistance, current flow, volt drop. You will find this in a basic book at the library.

Very important is your maths skills/ability to do calculations on the above and that you can understand questions and give an understandable answer to the written questions

Also basic health & safety may come up, in terms that you won’t do something that you were not sure about/take chances unless you know it is safe and if any doubt you would ask for advice from you supervisor, common sense!

good luck
