Help with knitting pattern!

Hi just started knitting for the future grandchild, due in September, not the most experienced knitter and have found a lovely pattern for a cardigan, but it states place markers on certain stitches. Can someone explain this to me in basic English terms. Would be most grateful.

Oh and if anyone has any baby patterns, wool or needles going spare send me a pm with how much inc P&P

Many Thanks

i would imagine you need to loop something (marker) around certain stitches, to pick up something later maybe

I remember when I was very young and my mam said she had dropped a stitch . I went looking on the floor for it.

not an experienced knitter, just taking up the hobby again after a few years,
to mark the Rows or stitches is so you can know exactly where you have increased or decreased in the pattern for making up the garment.

hope this helps a little

Thanks all, tied a different colour wool around those stitches!
