Couple of quick questions, it's gonna be really hard to determine what's up with it over the 'net.

1. Are there any warning codes/lights etc?
2. Is it switched on?
3. Look at the pressure gauge, what does it read?

try topping up the pressure if its low always seems to work with ours when it stops working

Is there a model number on it and have you got the manual?

There's obviously a fault with it, as what you're describing is an error code - the manual should have details of what you're seeing means.

put the model number on my last listing. we bought the house 2 yrs ago and there wasnt a manual left for us so dont know what the warning lights mean

My boiler broke and my old man got it sorted with the insurance from his Royalties account. They told him it has to be serviced yearly for them to come out, he told them it was, they never checked. He just said British Gas service it on a yearly basis. The guys who came to fix it never even asked.

Just found this post elsewhere, sounds like a similar fault:

thanks for these but my lights are green and when i try to turn the dial to fire it up it flashes orange

Can you post a picture?

Found your manual, but can't get it for free - the site below charges £3.50 for it.

Will look a bit more.

Found another link.

As you're trying to fire it up the light goes orange - so according to the dude on this page, it's your flame detection circuit fault.

waiting for the pics to upload

I might be jumping the gun here, but I'd guess the saint is taking the michael asking for you to upload images...

Pics are useless unless someone knows what your flashing lights mean, and they'd need the prior knowledge or have the manual to do that.

Get an engineer out tomorrow.

Good luck fixing it with those pictures and no manual mate.

Ring Sime up in the morning and get them to email the manual over to you. Then you have half a chance.

No worries, good luck getting it fixed.

Get a couple of quotes if you can.

Or, as suggested above, call Sime:

SIME Ltd. 1a Blue Ridge Park, Thunderhead Ridge
Glasshoughton, Castleford, WF10 4UA

Phone : 08709911114
Fax : 08709911115

Not exact model but its the 25 version so should be the same as yours just lower output

portale.sime.it/jpo…813

Bi-colour green led off if power is cut-off.
Bi-colour orange led: C.H. sensor (SM) fault.
Green led flashing: fan/smoke pressure switch.
Flashing orange led no water circulation.
Flashing red led indicates a problem in the line post-condenser

So pump issue then. May be seized and a simple screwdriver to free it.

No, a picture is worth a thousand words.

If the picture was of the warning lights it would've been a bit more helpful.

Take the front off the boiler. Unscrew the centre of the pump. put a flat screwdriver in the centre and see if the pump is rotating freely. If not give it a wiggle to free it and you are lucky. If it is then I am afraid your pumps bit the dust and needs replacing.

When you take the centre off the pump you will get a trickle of water so make sure you put a towel directly under it to soak it up.

Yeah, cause you'd be able to diagnose the fault without the manual after seeing some lights that you're gonna struggle to capture in a photo. Get a grip

Yeah, plumbers can't diagnose faults without manuals. Forgot that.

Not that many of them I'd wager - you' expect them to have an encyclopaedic reference to every boiler manufactured and it's fault codes?

Try it, the next time you have a plumbing fault, and ask if your plumber will accept an MMS to allow him to diagnose the problem.

I work in a letting agents, and manage dozens of properties.
If a tenant calls with a boiler fault, I ask them :
1. To describe what is/isn't happening.
2. Let me know any fault codes.
3. The make and model of the boiler if I don't already have it.

I then call the plumber/Gas man, and more often than not, he can tell me the fault and order the part(if needed) without ever seing the boiler. People that work day in dy out with things get to know their trade.

If you work in a letting agents then you will only be too aware of the legality in carrying out works on a boiler without being Gas Safe registered - not that I'm saying you do here.

Whilst this situation may benefit your scenario, the OP will still need to call a plumber and have him properly, legally and professionally fix the problem. If it was something simplistic like needing to top up the system, then advice on here is appropriate, otherwise, it's not really going to help.

I've still no idea how you thought a picture would have help resolve this one.

just thought that i would update and let u all know the fault.. the pump was blocked, and that the black stuff that comes out your radiators some of it was backing bak into the pump causing the block... he did say it could be that the pump was fitted spot on hence the reason, he has managed to unblock it and said that it should be ok till he gets a new one for me..

also to let you know that i bluffed this with the royalties gold and told them that the boiler was serviced ( when i thought it wasnt) they said that as long as i can prove this it would be okay... however the engineer never even asked for proof and the pupm and labour would be free..... however lesson learned and i will now be paying the £6 p/m for the service thanks to everyone for there help and rep will be added.

Good news!

Make sure he flushes your system and puts inhibitor in it - cause that black sludge shouldn't be there.

deanos;8043064

Flashing orange led no water circulation.

So finding the right manual (sort of) got the answer very easily. It's amazing just how many people misplace (throw away) their boiler paperwork.

Let's say she posted a picture, and there were 5 lights, she could say if requested which lights were flashing. i.e "It's the 2nd light from the left".

Think outside the box.
