Help with my PC- will a ati 5870 work on it?

I am deciding to upgrade from a 9500gt to a ati 5870 agb.

    The PC I have is:

    bigpockets.co.uk/pro…23d

I have only upgraded two parts and I have now a 700W PSU and windows 7 64 bit.

I am wondering if it wll work with my operating system, motherboard and CPU?

Thanks and hopefully I can order the graphics card

Yes should be fine. You should check your PSU. To be on the safe side (80% of 12v output) you should have an output of 30 amps on the 12v rails.

It's too old to find the specs. Look on the sticker on the PSU under for 12v+. It may have more than 1 12v+ line.

From what you have put above am guessing it has two 12v rails. So it should say something like 12v+(1) 17Amps and 12v+(2) 17Amps so the total is 34Amps. If so that will be fine.

You could always post a photo just to make sure.

Ok thanks- i'll try and get a photo up, thanks- you've been a great help.

Note however that even though it may be 700w that is not the same as a 700w from a company like seasonic, antec, etc. Sumvision are quiet a cheap brand so see if you can find some independent reviews of how that model performs, try googling the model name (written on the side of the psu) or the model number then the word review.

It's not that it's dodgey. You can get cheap power supplies and you can get branded power supplies. The cheap ones often have variable performance and can cause stability issues. Sumvision fall into the cheap category and so you may or may not have problems caused by the PSU.
