Found 5th Dec 2010
I recently bought the 2gb ram from 7day shop for my dell vostro after checking that it was correct via cruical. I had 4gb and i bought another 4gb to upgrade to 8gb in all, i installed it in my pc and booted up the pc told me i had increased my memory and would i like to start windows or go to setup, i chose go to windows.

Once loaded i checked the system spec and it told me there was 8gb
installed..great .

I had to reboot around an hour later and when it rebooted it went into sleep mode with totally black screen but pc was on. I tried to reboot but same happened again.

I un installed the ram and rebooted again and it is working fine again
What did i do wrong ? i have googled but there wasnt anything i could find, i have posted on dell forum but no replies.

Can any kind person lend me a hand.

If it runs OK without the memory then you've probably got 1 (or 2) dud sticks. Send it back and get your money back. Probably better to buy from Crucial next time. (_;)

What O/S do you have?
