help with playing blueray dvd on ps3?

So my kids want to watch a blueray dvd on the PlayStation but apparently I need a hdmi cable? Where am I plugging the cable into? Obviously one side goes in the ps but where does the other side link to? My TV doesn't have a hdmi output and nor can I see one anywhere on the machine?
    Please help!

Your TV needs hdmi input, so you will need to buy a hd TV with hdmi input, make sure it's full HD as the ps3 is 1080p

surely it is connected already via hdmi as I didnt think the ps3 had scart output? oO

unless you are using an AV - scart adaptor......

Is that a regular hdmi input? I def don't have one that fits..

yeah going by this amazon.co.uk/Hit…JT2 dont think you got any hdmi inputs oO

You could try a hdmi to scary adaptor on the TV. PlayStation would see itself in HDMI mode and therefore should play a bluray in the lower resolution. You should be able to get an adaptor for a tenner.
please note I have not tried this so I can't confirm if this will work

I think your tv can handle an hdmi to component av cable

More importantly (and already asked), how is it currently connected to your tv?

Your TV is too old to support the newer standards and from the amazon specs is pretty much a 4:3 ratio monitor. I would cut your losses and connect it to a PC monitor as most modern ones have an hdmi connection.

doesnt it support component? its 1080 x 768 so fine for PS3 games and a pretty decent picture on bluray (better than dvd resolution). its only a 32" screen at the end of the day so I suggest the OP sticks to DVD as they wont notice much, if any, difference.

Just double checked it's 16:9 ratio. Screen resolution not so good. It does have a svideo input but no component just composite. Also has DVI but not HDCP so unsure what to expect. OP really needs to retire this set as it's not up to current specs.

That tv is over 12 years old. What do you consider an old tv?

if you meant to put hdmi to scart that won't work without an expensive adapter/converter because scart is analogue and hdmi is digital.

    MIDURIX

I'm sure you could squeeze a hdmi cable in somewhere

Bah HDMI is crap anyway, this baby is rocking with RF full bandwidth It has numbered buttons on it so you can select 7 channels and an 8th for A/V. Also it works as a defibrillator if you press your chest to the screen

Why hasn't op said how the PS3 is already connected??

Ok PS3 is connected with a scart! Does this mean I can't watch blueray DVDs with this tv at all unless I have a hdmi plug??

I think u can but scart is almost non existent now a days. Even game playing, upgrading to hd u will see a massive difference in picture quality. Scart is like back in vhs days.
Have u tried a blueray disc?
