Found 3rd Jun 2010
hiya,

i have just placed my first order online with tesco for the weekly shop i found a voucher code for £10 off £50 so i made my order up to just over £50 (exc. delivery charge) and entered the code at the payment page. It said it had been accepted and that the 'payment summary' was £44.28 but when i entered my credit card details it said the price was £54.28??

Anyone know how much i will be charged overall??

thanks!

The £10 should have came off before you pay at the end. Did the total value of the basket come to over £50 or was there still multibuys to come off? Sometimes it says you're over £50 but doesn't take into account the discounts so it may not take the £10 code off?
Are you sure it didnt say Total order £54.28 made up of £10 voucher + credit card payment of £44.28 ?
when i did that mastercard verification thing it had the £54.28 as what would come off my card..
its normal, they reserve full price in your account, to make sure you have enough in your account

the discount will come off when its delived, you will get a statement off the delivery fella
it also says the guide price is £50.28 so will this include the £3.40 of mulitbuys i have?... eh im so confused lol

you will get charged the right amount as they go through the till on the day, as some offers could have changed by your chosen delivery date, hence why its only an estimate, the guide price tends to not show multibuys etc, etc as on your delivery date they may not be on offer

i used a code once and when it arrived it was under £50 and they refused point blank to honour the code, several emails later and they still wouldnt honour it, but promised to put my argument across in a meeting, that i shouldnt have to try and calculate what my bill would be, and still its the same now, if you want it guarenteed you have to work the bill out yourself, although lots on here have all codes honoured even if not met the price, they told me the codes go through ast, whilst others on here have been told they go through 1st, hope it gets honoured for you, maybe its just shrewsburys arsey branch

yes - I used a code once and about £40 of goods were not in stock. The order total including delivery came to about £5 for £15 worth of goods.
I used to work for Tesco in Dundee call centre

Order the goods then when they arrive and not before, check the receipt
if the discount has not come off call the Tesco Grocery customer services, firstly they will input the code and check whether or not its legit, if it is they will refund your account no questions asked

Also you have the right, to check the receipt before he delivers the goods, if your not happy with the final payment to Tesco then you can refuse the order

hope that helps

Yes you have to really work out all the offers and discounts before you place the order, the discounts don't come off the order till it goes through the till before they send it to you.
Every time you do a shop always use the calculator it's your friend

tesco site has changed now to show correct bill including discounts
