Help/Advice on a Ryanair booking that has gone wrong!!

Hi Just wondering if anyone can suggest what I should do - I booked 3 flights for a cheap weekend away in a couple of weeks time - never received any email confirmation but checked online that the booking was made and all seemed fine. I didn't print anything off as thought I'd wait till I checked in online to do that . I have gone to check in online today and suddenly noticed that one of the surnames (mine) is wrong! I am sure I would have entered it correctly as am always really careful so I don't know how it happened and I never spotted it before but I see that they charge £100 to change a name. It is my name that they have the wrong surname for and so I'm sure I wouldn't have made a mistake entering my own name!! Does anyone think that is it possible there was a glitch on the system? Tried to call them earlier but was cut off! I will try and call them again tomorrow but am not very optimistic about them being helpful! My only other option is to book the flight again at 4 times the price - I am so gutted!

This happened to me too, it was a problem on their system but i really can't remember how it got sorted out!!

Sorry i'm rubbish I know, I think actually when I got the confirmation email the sirname was wrong, however when I checked in they were correct on the print outs.

Their telephone number is really expensive too, hope you get on ok

I'm really careful too and it was my Mums name so I was really worried but it turned out fine....them getting the names wrong is certainly not unheard of

Saynoto0870 don't actually work for Ryanair except the Dublin head office number. As for being cut off they do that deliberately i'm afraid but will deny it when you call them back. It has happened to me several times. I would ring the head office & explain the situation on 00 353 1 812 1212. You can usually get through quickly so it shouldn't cost too much. Unfortunately i do fear they will not help though but that would be your best bet. Good luck . Fingers crossed for you.

would it be cheaper just to rebook the flight in your own (proper) name

Yes i'll have to do that if they refuse to help as it's £100 to change name or £78 for a new return flight as there was still availablility last time I looked - just very frustrating as I don't believe it was my mistake but cannot prove it!:-(

In case anybody is interested...

Ryanair aren't so bad after all - I got though to an operator after half a dozen attempts and he changed it to the correct name without me having to get stroppy or argue my case - no probs whatsoever and he only charged me a small £10 admin fee. What a relief!!:-D

I know - we're going from Bristol to Italy for £20 each - no extras as paid with ENTROPAY! The guy I got through to when I called was really pleasant and helpful - maybe I just got lucky!
