Hi,
looking for a wee bit of help (especially from MikeT). Looking for a good spec laptop with the following;

[* Windows XP (not Vista)
[* At least 2 Gb Ram
[* WiFI (and Bluetooth if possible)
[* 15" or 17" screen (truelife would be even better)
[* Really good graphics card (that will allow me to play the graphic demanding games)

I'm easy on the rest although a good processor would be brilliant.

Any help would be great

Hi,
still looking for a good deal. they seem to be a wee bit thin on the ground at the moment.

Looking for a similar spec myself, although I don't mind Vista. Afterall, it's the future;) Until the next OS comes out..

I'm on a budget of about £700, which would have to include delivery. I can't seem to find anything decent with at least a 2ghz CPU (no AMD Turions), 2gb of ram, not fussed about HDD space and a dedicated graphics card (Geforce 8600M GT) for gaming.

your budget is *just* shy of Alienware territory (as in, probably less than £20 away) - they specialise in high-end laptops.

Alternatively, it looks like Dell may have just introduced a new XPS model to replace the 1710 17" one, perhaps a few will turn up on outlet?

Thank you for your kind replies.

I've actually been trying to kiss up to Alienware for a press discount, sadly they only offered 3%:)

Better than a kick up the bum, although their lowest spec laptop iirc isn't up to much. It does look a bit swishy though and would give some of my colleagues a green tint:)

The Dell outlet, I've been keeping my eyes on there. Some XPS have appeared on there, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Microsoft and a magazine I write for owe me some money and are quite literally dragging their heels to pay me, so it looks like I'm going to miss out on the free delivery:(

PCSpecialist, I've never heard of those. Thank you for pointing their URL out to me:)

Kind regards,
