    Hisense 55M7000

Hi all, I've just made an impulse purchase in buying a Hisense 55M7000 from the Amazon Warehouse for £490.

I bit because I simply thought it was a good price however just looking to some thoughts as to whether to keep or cancel while there is still time.

    Buy first, ask questions later!

I primarily wanted one as I've got a PS4 pro en route and was currently using a Samsung Plasma so I didn't think I would get the full benefit. Do you think this will suffice?

Anyone who owns one got any opinions?

    Many thanks.

It's not sufficient for the full benefit no, you'd need to spend twice that to get a screen close to what HDR is fully capable of.

You'll also see downsides from it next to your existing Plasma, even the best LCDs can't match plasmas in all areas.

On the other hand Hisense are supposedly pretty good for the price, so if you're only going to replace it with another £500 55" model then it might be worth continuing with the order.

Yes, some good points raised, thanks.

Initially I wanted an lg 55uh950v but was waiting for it to come down a bit.

I suppose I'll give it a go. If push comes to shove and I don't see it as fit for purpose I could always return I suppose or sell and get my money back. Seems to be around the £800 mark new. So I'm sure I could get my £490 back. Thanks.

We have this television and it's amazing, we paid £499 for it and I use it for everyday tv but also uhd blurays, I'm sure you will love it.

LG don't seem to have invested much effort in backlight control for their LCDs so that model isn't ideal for HDR either. No great surprise given that Amazon have just done a deal for a 55" OLED for below a grand.

You're basically looking at Philips 7601 or above, Panasonic DX-902, Sony XD93 or above, Samsung KS7000 or above, or LG B6 or above. The Samsung is by far the cheapest.

Thanks for the help. It is appreciated.

Really is a minefield when you are blinded by misleading standards and advertising.

Hopefully some clarity around this will come in the future.
