In August this year my car was parked on road and hit by a car luckily my neighbour saw the accident and gave the details. Now my taxi insurance gave me quote of £4200.00 last year I paid £2100.00.i contact my Company who deal with claim they send letter saying

"we can confirm that liability is not in dispute "
She said other party accept their fault but still waiting for hire claim

Insurance said accident claim is still open so they can't consider no claim bonus which 4 years

They say it will take couple of months this is how system works.

tell your solicitor as you may be able to reclaim the difference when settling

Get letter from hire firm, fax to third party insurers through you solicitor , tell them they have 10 days to settle
Job done!

Had the same problem when I had a no fault accident but as it wasn't settled at the time of renewal my insurance company classed it as an open claim against me. Ended up paying more for my renewal than I would have normally.

r u sure hire firm and insurance are same company very surprised there. but was ur car really that badly damaged for a hire car to be given out thus is one of the complications of using hire cars sadly u can't do much about it until they close the case or speak to them and as they should know about this if ur using the same company they may insure u for less at lead they will refund u later on ask them about this good luck.

As it is taxi insurance I insured with a company which basically are brokers so when I had the accident I called the broker he referred me to the main company for claim and that main company has a branch which deals with hire vehicle.
Yes the guy was drunk and reversed on front door so they replace door as they it cnt be repaired

Here are your options.

Seek proper legal advice from a solicitor. Some home and car insurance have free legal advice as part of the policy.

Go to a different Broker for your quote. You will have to tell them about the 'open claim'.

Contact the insurer and ask them if you pay the renewal if they will refund the difference when the claim is settled. If they say yes, ask for it in writing.

Out of curiosity, can taxi drivers protect there no claims?
