    Hlp with wireless connection

    Hi i have a homplug because my wireless connection isn't strong enuff to reach the other side of my house where my PS3 is, but i would like to use my laptop here by wireless and was wondering if there is anyway to hook up my old bthome hub to the homplug.
    i have been looking for RJ45 to RJ11 but unsure if this will work!

    cheers in advance Tommy

    No.. You'd need a cable wireless router with the DHCP turned off (will interfere with DHCP on present router). Create static IP's for laptop + new router..

    That should work if the homeplugs have ethernet sockets.

    I've just re-read your post..
    Is your main router wireless? And the home plugs are connected via an ethernet con to the plug-router?

    My main wireless adsl router is d-link i have my main computer hooked up to it and one home plug which goes to my room to another homeplugs i am unable to get wireless in that area of my house.

    I basically wanted a way to connect my old bt home hub2.0 up to the home plug in my room so i could have wireless in that side of the house to use with my wii/laptop.

    as its an ethernet cable it wont go in to the broadband cable hole.

    visually it looks like that this

    Wireless router > homeplug > homeplug > ps3

    i would like it to go this this

    wireless router - homeplug - homeplug - wireless router

    does this make sence? lol also @ maddogb imy room is a total dead spot and repeating wont work!

    Yep.. Looks like cable modem your only option I think.. You'll get a cheap 1 on the bay for less than £15. Then you could just ethernet cable to router from laptop instead and get a cheaper router (no wifi).

    u can use it as an extender also just think carefully about setting the ip addresses manually(easier) on both routers, i have done this setup for a friend before.

    Hi mad dog, so what your saying is that it is possible to add an extra wifi router to the home plug in my room if i change the ip address? also what leads would i need to connect the ethernet cable up to the bt hub?

    u need two patch cables, one from hp to hh and another to connect any other wired device.

    initially just connect ur lappie to hh and assign it(the hh) a manual ip in the range allowed by your network but outside of the dhcp pool, then turn off the hh dhcp server, attach to the hp and reboot the lappie

    amazon.co.uk/dp/…852?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=****&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B00472MMC6

    sorry, what did u not understand? the abbreviations?

    hh=home hub
    hp=home plug
    DHCP=a bit of software running on routers to give out unique addresses
    ( pretty much like a street, u can't have two houses with the same number/name, just doesn't work for the postman u see)
