Holiday Alone

Whats the best way to get a cheap holiday alone. All of the specialist solo holiday companies are more expensive for 1 than a lot of the deals posted here for 2 or 3 people! Ive even offered to pay for friends but they either cant get off work or gfs wont let them!

Just want week in the sun in aug, not fussed where as long as its good weather and there is a pool. Thanks

Best bet would be to pop into a travel agent.... find out what the deals are.

Then closer to the time you want to go you will find that getting a late deal for just 1 person may be easier..?

If you're on your own I think you'd have a better chance of getting a late deal. Wait it out till nearer the time then pop into an agent or try travel republic.

Just use Skyscanner to check available flights and prices from the Airports you can fly from.

Then book Accommodation through the likes of Travel Republic - when using their Search facility make sure you put '2 Adults where it asks how many in the party. I realise you are going on your own but you get much more choice and the price is sometimes cheaper for 2 that it is for 1 (I know that sounds silly).

When you arrive at the Hotel/Apartments they are not going to bother that you are on your own as they have been paid anyway - done this loads of times myself when the Wife can't get time off work.

Good luck.'

best thing to do is just compare flight prices on sky scanner or cheapflights.co.uk and then search for some cheap hotels on trivago. that's the cheapest way to find a holiday

I would buy yourself one of those European rail tickets and a good map.

Thanks all. Some of the deals being posted atm are dirt cheap but wasnt sure if i could book onto one of the 'based on two sharing' and just pay for flights for 1.

Il take a look at trivago for hotels. Thanks.

Davelangston - I've always wanted to do that, maybe even take a car or bike around Europe but figured booking hotels etc day by day would get expensive. Maybe next hol, this time i need sun and a pool.

every time I have tried gettting a price for single occupancy, it isnt much cheaper than two people travelling (including flights).

You could try Explore or Exodus. For cheap accommodation you could also try airbnb.

just book it all separately, grab the flight direct from the airline, then book the hotel with somewhere like lastminute.

depends on where u want to go and when at time of the year.

for instance i went to egypt all inclusive at the end of april £450.00 with thomas cook. very nice hotel with all meals and snack included but not the premium alcohol.

also went to domican republic for £480 at the end of april as well all inclsuive.

A single room is almost always not much cheaper than a double one but you can save money by buying flight and hotel separately, getting the latter from someone like Travel Republic, Lowcostbeds, etc.
