So me and the girlfriend booked our summer holiday to Tunisia for June a few days before all the political trouble started in the country. Since then the price of our holiday has dropped by £150 pp.

Is there anything I can do about this, as I am gutted to be paying so much for a holiday when its now available so much cheaper.

It was booked through Thomson if that makes a difference

If I was in this situation I would look at a posible cancellation. Then book the holiday at a cheaper price. You wont save the £300 but may save half. It depends on what they charge you to cancel the booking.

Went to Tunisia last year it's a right dump, Like Bosnia.

holiday in bosnia often?

When I went a few years ago I wasnt sure what to expect. Very very basic but nice and clean. Nice places to visit. Make sure you take bog roll out with you as some of the toilets were a bit nasty. What part are you going to?

Make sure you take a couple bottles off whisky to trade with. Its heavily taxed. I took a few bottles over and sold them to the bar manager of the hotel for £35 a bottle, I didnt pay for a drink all week either which was handy.

If you like wine it maybe worth taking a bottle or two over as that was expensive to buy if you could find a shop that sold it. I will say you are brave going with all the trouble going on. Im sticking to Spain this year!

He's a utd fan , probably lives in bosnia X)

Been to Tunisia twice - great place for a holiday, provided you don't just park yourself by the hotel swimming pool. The people are friendly and welcoming (recent events notwithstanding!)

I found the rug sellers to be the most welcoming. Nearly got stuck in one. When I walked to have a look around two blokes tried to shut me in. I nearly managed to exchnage my other half for a nice cap but the bloke welshed on the deal. He said I coiuld have anything in his shop in exchange for her. I put the cheapest cap on and walked out. I picked up a nice mat for our beach hut. I got it reduced from £400 to £10. Then around the corner they were selling them for £5.

Why would you be gutted, you were happy to book it at the price when you booked it ??

Would you be feeling like this and trying to contact the tour operator if the price had gone up £300 in total and asking how you would make the additional payment ??

Back to the point... 3 years ago i booked a holiday to Mexico and 7 weeks before FCA dropped the price around £600 in total. I complained and got a free upgrade to premium for the flights which were worth around £500 at the time.

Write them a letter and see how far you get.

Tunisia in all seriousness is ok, It wasn't really my cup of tea but some might like to be hassled by the local taxi's and rug sellers, Can be annoying and intimidating especially if your on your own, They offered me 500,000 camel's for my wife..!!! Sadly I couldn't transport that many camels back..!!!.

The beach's aren't very well kept, Not like they are in Spain, Our hotel had lot's of Roaches, Was funny in the canteen they had "House special" I didn't have that lol.

Was an experience but wouldn't go back, The people are very friendly and like chatting the woman up, Probably just after visa's. Tip them well they don't earn much and expect large tips.

One thing, everything is dirt cheap.

Were in the same boat for sharm el sheikh In march. Phoned Thomson and was given option to cancel or Change destination for a 50% fee, works out £900 lol. Not much you can do I'm afraid
