holiday suggestions may or sept?

Looking for a cheap family holiday. Got time booked off either end of may/beginning of June or middle Sept. I know I will have to take children out of school- age 9 and 13. Both have 100 % attendance and doing very well, so time off shouldn't be an issue.
We've been to Majorca, Menorca, Cyprus etc but usually in summer holidays, so unsure about weather etc.
Any suggestions where will be nice, and which time to go? I've had a quick look and June is coming out cheaper- but not sure if that is because it is closer so getting discount for that? thanks in advance

Thinking Spain, Greece, Cyprus
Ideally don't want to spend more than around £1200 for 1 week

Have you actually checked with their schools to make sure that they are not going to have any tests when they return to school in September (if you decide to go then) - I know that some schools do tests to see how the children are performing after the Summer holidays?

can't you just go last minute in school holidays, not sure why you want them to fall behind at school

I know school holidays would be the ideal- however unlike in previous years neither myself or my husband can get any time off during the school holidays.
Ideally I was just asking for suggestions of places to try.

Im going Budapest around then. I booked good apartment through lastminute.com. Got really cheap offer. Lots to do and see. Also close to vienna and prague.

We're trying Lanzarote this year after also wondering where abouts to go to. We also weighed up a caravan in Wales, but the weather won it for us

went to Ibiza last year end of June. £780 all inclusive for 3 It was lovely, family friendly resorts, fine weather, just 2.5 hours flight

Went to Kos at the start of September a few years ago and the weather was beautiful, averaged about 30 degrees. Slightly longer flight though I think it was about 5 hours.

If you are looking for guaranteed sunshine then go for the canaries. we are going at Easter to gran canaria as we did last year. Just had a quick look on sky scanner and flights from the north west can be had for £29 each way in May.
