Holiday to China - recommendations [Agent & itinerary]

I am planning a trip to China via Hong Kong with my wife.

I have been to First Choice and they are quoting around £5k for 12/13 nights in 4* accommodation. The itinerary includes; Beijing, Xi'an, Yangtze cruise & 3 nights in HK.

    Can anyone recommend:

    1. another travel agent (from first hand experience) so I can get a comparison and hopefully a more competitive price!

    2. Best places to visit / things to do

It would be much cheaper to book it all separately.

Unless you are a bit adventurous maybe best to do a tourist package first time as they get you where you need to go. There is a load of money to be saved if you have Mandarin speaker/Chinese as a guide, but otherwise you may struggle when you move away from tourist places as you cant read the signs, understand the language etc. The whole place is an experience but i guess it depemnds on what you really want to see (Beijing, Xian etc.)

For long distance flights, then is a good choice. I can see return flights to Hong Kong on there for £427 with Qatar Airways, and then use local airlines when you are in Asia such as Air Asia.

Most sites such as Lastminute have Quidco too so you can save more.

Trailfinders. Tell them your itinery and they will package up for you. Then you can see if you can beat their prices by booking the same flights/hotels yourself.

They don't charge extra for payment by credit card either.

    Have a quick look here…spx

Can recommend Emirates as an excellent airline, the China bit is up to you!

Good luck, enjoy and send us a card
