Home buildings insurance for a house that´s rented out

Found 2nd Nov 2008
My father in law owns the house we live in and we´re renting it.
(he lives somewhere else)
He wants to get buildings insurance (with contents cover for free if possible)

Now I´ve looked at some companies...they all say only you and your family can live
at the property to be eligible. Are there any companies who offer this for the landlord to take out for the house he´s rented out and he´s not living there at all?

Any help is appreciated

Definitely. Leasehold properties have insurance for the whole block of flats (for example) and the freeholders doesnt have to live there.
Call MoreThan. They will help.

Quidco give 75 for morethan and I´m with Quidco already....
Is that wepromiseto site free? Quidco charge 5 pounds a year which I already paid...
From what I´ve seen on their website, if you choose the business option you don´t
get the free contents cover with it....

Nah it would be the normal insurance for tenant. You could say to them though on the telephone what you need and then tell them you want to do it online because of the cashback and if they say that they cant do it online then tell them thats a deal breaker as its £80!!
www.wepromiseto.co.uk charge an admin fee of £5 after reaching a certain amount but they have loads of free offers and I have £85 payable to me which I can get whenever. They pay out once a month every month.

Hi TanyaSpace...
...I've got similar insurance on a rented Property; did it with Endsleigh before I knew they were on Quidco...Can't say how good they are as I haven't had to use them, which is a blessing. Anyway you'll need to get a rebuild cost from one Calculators available via google.
As regards Contents didn't bother-only because of cost. Good Luck!
