Found 6th Jan 2008
I moved into a new build..but cannot get contents insurance online as they dont recognise my address.
Its been a couple of months now...and I really need it sorting as I have too many expensive things I could lose if the place burned down.

Can anybody please advise how I sort this out?

Cheers

you will probably have to stick with your mortgage supplier for a while, probably not the cheapest, but if you can`t get cover online, better to be safe than sorry, have you tried confused.com, got very good deals from their site
You're absolutely stuffed for online insurance, but there is a real world out there! It just means you'll have to nip into a local insurance broker who should have no problem providing you with cover.

Or try phoning, but unless you can get hold of a human being with more than one brain cell (difficult, in the insurance telephone sales departments, I've found), it will probably be just as difficult - remember Jeremy Clarkson trying to insure the Bugatti Veyron over the phone?

I know I can try phoning..but with quidco you can get it for the year for about £50. On the phone, about £250.
I dont know what I can do to get my address registered
We had the same problem when we bought our new build persimmon home.
Trying to do anything online ie, car insurance quotes, home delivery etc etc basically we didn't exist !! Very frustrating.

Best thing to do is phone the companies you are trying to get quotes from, tell them your house / postcode isn't recognised online being a new build and see if they will give you the online discount anyway. We had to and all companies obliged.

Hmm...managed to get it sorted online after all with Lloyds. It didnt know my number, but did know my postcode now (didnt before). I just changed my number..and all sorted.
£84 for contents, and £60 quidco. So £24 for the year

That is very rude! I work in the industry and have to say, its not the adviser with less than one brain cell, it is the customer! trying to understand something they have no idea about, I've found.
I built my own house 14 years ago and still get problems with the address online. If i put 1 and not the house name it goes through ok but theres another number 1 .50 yards up the road.
