ah thanks have not tried them will do that now, cheers

LOl we only pay that for a 3 bed house, includes accidental damage cover for media and entertainment systems with no excess and no affect to no claims (computers, tvs, consoles, AV equipment etc), £2k personal items out of the house (phones, ipods, laptops etc)

£1500 garden cover if an animal got in and trashed it.

    £50 excess on everything else.

Horse riding tack as standard is covered (never ridden in my life)

    So try the NFU

I tried about 8/9 different companies and PO was quite a bit cheaper than anyone else, cashback was a bonus.

    M&S, with £45 Quidco too.

    Hiya!

If you live in a 1BF, then be sure to get quotes for limited cover policies (as opposed to unlimited) but at the same time, make sure you are adequately covered.

Some policies that offer lots of extras like accidental damage, cash cover etc look like a good deal but if you check the sum insured (i.e. how much they will pay out if Mr burglar steals absolutely everything you own or you lose everything in a fire or flood) it is sometimes low/not enough.

Another point - any insurance company can only be judged when you make a claim and with this in mind, cheapest usually isn't the best. There's a lot out there at the mo offering cheapy policies, making money on the "I will never need to claim" train of thought that most people have.

Also, phone up your existing insurer & ask them for a better deal/price match - they usually will.

Edit - Post office. AA, RAC, etc are usually low-end limited cover policies underwitten by Fortis, Lloyds TSB, Eagle Star etc. When you get a quote off them, find out who the underwiter is & then approach them direct & you will usually get an even better price for the same policy as you are cutting out the middle man. Be aware though that they are low-end policies and as such, the cover offered can sometimes be comparitively quite low.

    who?

    Mod & Ed

I'm with Barclays, have been for years and never claimed, this year they increased policy by just over a third, rang them up, gave them hell, they kept the price as last year and sent me £30 m & s vouchers as a gesture.

Do a comparison site search where you can "tailor-make" a policy to suit your needs. Make sure the total sum-insured would be enough to cover the cost of all your belongings ( you would be surprised how many folk don't know this and are under-insured because they bought a cheap policy) and stick with a company you have heard of with a decent reputation.

I work in insurance so can't recommend a particular product to you here cos the mods will prob shout at me for self-promo or something.!!

As I walked past The Royal Bank of Scotland today they had a sign in the window saying that they promise to beat your insurance quote by £25.

I know no more than that I am afraid!
